This transmission is on the level

Niveau is a French word meaning ‘level’, or ‘on a flat plane’. This word best captures the riding experience of an electric bicycle fitted with the Niveau Drive automatic transmission. Climbing hills is rendered effortless due to the lightning-fast gear changes that can be completed while riding under full load.

The Niveau Drive is a fully-sealed, constant-mesh transmission design, which offers many benefits over competing products. Gone are the days of manually operated derailleurs, with Niveau Drive the transmission operation is automatic, but with manual override if preferred by the rider. The transmission is designed to be manufactured at a low cost and uses many components already used in the bicycle industry. The design is also optimized for low noise and vibration, and to provide seamless shifting between ratios.

CBT Relies on Falco

For some time, Cape Bouvard Technologies (CBT) has relied on the Falco eMotors e-Bike system when developing our transmissions and electric bicycles. “We have chosen Falco eMotors to sit behind our development products, because of the reliability and excellent Torque-Sensing characteristics offered by this product,” said Stephen Watson, General Manager of CBT.

Who is CBT?

The Niveau Drive transmission is a product developed by Cape Bouvard Technologies Pty Ltd (CBT), located in Perth, Australia. CBT is a wholly-owned product development division of Cape Bouvard Investments Pty Ltd – one of Australia’s largest private investment houses. “Cape Bouvard Investments has committed a significant sum of high-risk Venture Capital funding to develop innovative new technologies across a range of industries,” Mr. Watson said. The sound financial footing of the parent company ensures that CBT will be able to support these products long into the future.

CBT intends to offer the Niveau Drive for sale to bicycle manufacturers on a ‘white label’ basis by early 2021, with consideration currently being given to retail sales also. The patented technology may also be licensed for OEM manufacture, and inquiries from all manufacturers are welcome in this regard.
